Picking the Right Mobile Construction Crane
No matter how tough your job site or operation is, Alta can assist in the right crane solution for the toughest application. Mobile cranes are perfect for when you need convenience, mobility, or shorter project durations that a tower crane would not be feasible for. They’re most commonly used for moving materials around job sites.
Our brands are known for their commitment to excellence. We’re an authorized Link-Belt and Tadano distributor for sales, rentals, parts, and service. Choose from a range of capacities from 35 to 3200 tons. These reliable cranes meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
Telescopic Crawlers
If your job application is adverse ground conditions, limited access, limited assembly area, or pick and carry to name a few, a telescopic crawler crane is the best option because it will be much easier to navigate.
Keep in mind though, these machines can require more disassembly for transport, so they’re better for long-term projects where they can stay assembled for a longer duration.
Rough Terrain Cranes
With high ground clearance, multiple steering modes, wider and larger tires, rough-terrain cranes are ideal for minimum manpower, multiple set-ups, low disturbance to paved surfaces, less ground pressure than “taxi” type cranes, and ease of operation. Choose from a variety of weight classes depending on the type of material you’ll be moving.
Lattice Cranes
Lattice boom crawler cranes are the largest type of mobile cranes available in the construction industry. They can be so large that they often need to be disassembled, transported in pieces, and then reassembled on site. Once a crew has put together a crawler crane, it usually stays on the worksite for the duration of the job. Due to their size and power, crawler cranes can transport, hoist, and move heavy loads easily. With a tonnage range of 80 ton to 3200 tons, this type of crane can be used on several types of terrain, and has high cycle speeds. This helps make crawler cranes one of the most versatile pieces of heavy equipment on a worksite.
All Terrain Cranes
All terrain cranes are built for use on different types of terrain and under various weather conditions. Versatile cranes with highway speed capacity and maneuverability, ideal for both on and off-road construction and industrial projects. All terrain cranes can access job sites with all wheel steering, multiple powered axles, and independent, hydraulically controlled suspension. With a large tonnage range of 40 tons to 800 tons the all terrain crane provides multiple application and larger capacities than other types of “Taxi” cranes.
Truck-Mounted Crane
Unlike the boom truck, the truck crane was specifically built to transport the hydraulic crane using its purpose-built carrier. With a “truck” like suspension the truck crane can easily travel on city streets and highways with minimum permitting requirements, all possible while providing lower maintenance and repair costs due to the simplicity of their suspension. Truck cranes provide quick and simple erection and ability to arrive on multiple job sites in a day. Although more purpose built than the all-terrain crane, the tonnage range of 40 ton to 120 ton still provides multiple applications.
