TrailKing
In 1974, Gordon and Shirley Thomsen co-founded Western Ag Sales in Mitchell, South Dakota, a distributor and sales representative for agricultural equipment manufacturers. Their business grew, and in 1978 they acquired Plains Industries and TrailKing, allowing them to become manufaturers themselves. Over the following years, they began to develop and create trailers designed to satisfy specific hauling needs, including hydraulic detachable goosenecks that revolutionized the hauling industry. Their trailers were so successful and popular, that they shifted their business’ focus from distributing ag equipment to exclusively manufacturing Trai King trailers. In 1983, Western Ag Sales officially became TrailKing Industries, prompting them to expand their product line to meet the needs of construction-related applications as well as commercial and specialized hauling markets. TrailKing continued to grow, and in 2010 was acquired by CC Industries, Inc., giving TrailKing the support they needed to pursue their goal of becoming America’s leading specialized trailer manufacturer. In 2018, TrailKing partnered with Goldhofer to expand its product line to a global scale
